Truly saddened to hear of Terry's passing. Great fishing stories shared together over many years. Just a great personality that I will never forget. Our thoughts and prayers are with his precious family at this most difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Terry's passing. We would like to send our condolences to the family since we are in Florida and unable to be there in person. Peter's very first peanut butter and jam sandwich was compliments of Terry about 1956. From his school days to later life, he always told a great story and remained a valued friend. Terry will be missed by many.

Sorry to hear the news about Terry! Each and every time we saw Hammer you were left with a smile. He will be missed!

Was shocked to hear about the passing of Hammer as we now live in Peterborough and don't get much Oshawa news.  He was such a treasure and a great mentor in hockey and fishing.  His stories never grew old nor did his sense of humour.  A sadness for all, but he will be remembered by those that care.  Elaine and Larry Flintoff, Fraserville.

So sorry to hear about Terry.....my condolences to Myna and family. Unfortunately I just now heard  the news and therefore missed the service and feel badly. Terry and I met at Oshawa Generals training camp in Stamford (Niagara Falls) in 1962. He was my first connection to Oshawa and guided me showing me the ropes as a young kid 1000 miles from home....I will always be appreciative of his kindness in getting me comfortable in my new home. We also had a lot of laughs along the way.....Good bye my friend...til we meet again.

"Myna and your extended family: We must say that the news of Terry's passing, was rather a shock. We hadn't heard that Terry was in the hospital, or
we would have been up to visit and catch up.I wanted to let him know that Bob
and I have a 7monh old granddaughter, and I know that he would have been excited for us,because his love for Kyle and Amanda was endless and he was so proud of everything that they accomplished.He couldn't believe how far that Kyle could hit a golf ball, he use to tell me.He was so excited when Christine and Dan took Kyle and Amanda to Indian Rock, where he spent hours fishing
with them.Whether it was golf, hockey, fishing, he was always teaching the sport because of his great accomplishments, and many experiences through out the wonderful years he had with you.Deb and I always enjoyed golfing with Terry, especially at Kings Bay,because we got a great deal to golf that beautiful course, and he would always compliment us on how we could strike the ball,and any tips he could give us was always appreciated, He was always happy just to hit the ball 100 yards in front, but in the fairway.The last time I spoke to Terry, he wasn't golfing a lot because he was spending his time fishing wherever he could. Deb and I had a wonderful time in Indian Rock and I know that Terry tried very hard to book a golf game with us, but there wasn't anything available, so we just enjoyed sitting, telling stories  and walking the beach. You and Terry made us feel so welcome.I'm sure that the picture you chose was a toss up between a golf course, or the ocean, but I must say that you chose the perfect picture.Terry will still live on in each and everyone of us, that have shared a special moment with him,whether it be through hockey, work, golf, fishing or even having a few beers at the Tartan! He will now meet up with his loving Parents, and his Best Buddies, that were taken much earlier and Terry would remember them by sharing stories of those terrific moments.He never forgot them. As I sit here and think of the many, many people, young and old, that will be coming to pay their respects, and sign the
guest book,probably the GM Centre would have been the place to hold this tribute for you. Keep smiling and don't forget about us down here!     Love

A friend of mine passed last Friday morning and my heart still hurts.

Terry and I met in an internet sports forum in about 7 years ago.

He & I were both into golf, hockey and snarkastic humor.
We would give each other jabs in the ribs every chance we got and, we both loved it.

Terry lived in Oshawa, a little east of Toronto.
I always said I'd come for a visit whenever I got a passport.
I never did. 
I'm disappointed with myself for that.

Besides sports, we'd talk about everything under the sun and, sometimes under the moon.lol

It was like that with us as, we both had the kind of humor that allowed us to understand that we each loved it when the other guy gave us a jab.

Terry's wife's name is Myna.
He said called her "Bird" and she loved it.

A week after we initially typetalked online, I got his phone # from someone.
They told Bird that I'd call and keep him talking and not tell him who it was.
When I called, she answered and, when she knew it was me, she could hardly keep from laughing.
I called and, we went on & on till he said he was going to hang up if I didn't tell him who it was. When I told him he really loved it.It went over really good and, we laughed about it forever after.

When you connect with someone, even in an online friendship, your emotions make it just as real as in person.

Terry was a great guy, a granddad, an uncle, a Dad and a friend.

A week & 1/2 ago, he told me he was going in for some tests and to hold the emails.
He said he'd probably be home in a few days.
It was way more than a couple of days so, I called and got their answering machine.
His son Dan called and told me that Terry wasn't coming home.
We got a few messages to each other through Dan and Dan sent me an email that day saying, "My Dad passed as I was sending this to you." 

Terry was able to acknowledge a last message before he passed.

I'll always miss him as, I really loved the guy. 

There's a poem which would feel so appropriate being said by him.
It's entitled:
"Do not stand at my grave and weep".

condolences to the entire family, l played a lot of hockey & golf with Terry, enjoyed his company very much, also worked at the golf store with him for the last couple of years that he worked there, before he quit. A sad loss indeed.
