Thomas Paul Matsushita

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Matsushita at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on January 20th, 2012 in his 78th year. Tom was the beloved husband and best friend of Sachie for 52 years. He was the loving father of Phil (Donna), and Naomi (Scott Dobson), proud Geechan of Kathryn and Daniel. Brother of Ron and Irene, and predeceased by Roy and Dan. He leaves behind cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tom was a retired superintendent with the former Lincoln County Board of Education, and was active with Retired Teachers of Ontario and Durham Lifelong Learning. He was an avid golfer, traveller and theatre lover, and all around bon vivant. As per his wishes he was cremated. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday, January 25th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Toronto, 6 Garamond Court, Toronto, M3C 1Z5.
