Tom Tom William Gleason

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, July 25th, 2014 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Mary Gleason for 50 years. Loving partner of the late Janette Greenshields for 10 years. Devoted father of Cathy Coppolino (Sam), Connie Baker (late Fred), Marian Hurst (late Bernie), Denis Gleason (Kim), Nora Dowhaniuk (Al), and Fran Conlin (Chuck). Cherished grandpa of Trevor, Cliff, Matt, Tom, Katie, Tim, Jeff, Angie, Peter, James, Tommasina, Daniel, Jenna, Cody and Karlee. Great-grandpa of Olivia, McKinley, Liam, Charlie, Mikey, Alex, Bre and James. Tom was born in Watson, Saskatchewan. He married, lived and farmed in Yorkton. In 1947 Tom joined the Knights of Columbus and was Treasurer from 1954 – 1957. He was also the insurance representative and lecturer for four years. In 1965 he moved his family east and settled in Oshawa. He was a man of honour, courage and divine ideals. He triumphed through many of life’s obstacles with perseverance and faith. He represented his family with many fine qualities and has left them with memories and stories that will forever be his legacy. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday, July 28th from 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at ST. GREGORY THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH (194 Simcoe St. North, Oshawa) on Tuesday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Durham Region Cancer Centre.
