It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Peeters (Owner of Bill's Truck Shop) on April 4th 2026. For 4 years he beat the odds that PLS/ALS gave him. He knew however when enough was enough, and left this world at home with all those who loved him by his side, in his best jeans and BTS T-shirt.
Bill leaves behind his wife of 47 wonderful years, Teresa. He was the adored father of his children Stephanie and his son in law James Beck, his daughter Kristen, his son Michael and his new daughter in law Julia, and his son Trevor Stewart and his partner Michelle. A big part of his heart was reserved for his much adored granddaughters Sophia, Evelyn, Daryl and Halle. We will tell his new grandbaby coming in October what kind of man their Grandpa was.
He found his greatest joy in time spent with his children and grandchildren, whether at the hockey arena or baseball diamond cheering from the stands or coaching behind the bench. He was just as happy on the sidelines of the soccer fields watching his granddaughters. Always present, always proud.
Being a grandpa was his favourite job in the world, and he did it with all the love, noise, and play that made him such a special Grandpa.
Bill was the beloved son of his predeceased mother Mary Peeters. Saying goodbye to him are his brothers Henri (Debbie) , Teresa Brudek (John), Margaret Marchbank (Chris), Helma Peterson (Alan), Lawrence (Diana), Finley (Leslie) and Alan (predeceased).
Much loved son-in-law to Bill and Sophie Dranski. Bill was an adored brother in law to Helen (predeceased) and Brian Ogden (predeceased), Irene and Brian Allin, Stan and Jackie Dranski, and John and Cathy Dranski.
Also missing him are a loving group of nieces, nephews and in-laws, and so many loyal friends who were by his side throughout his life, and in so many different ways throughout his experience with PLS/ALS over the last nearly 5 years.
Born in Mabou, Nova Scotia then raised in Port Perry, he settled and started his family in Oshawa. From humble beginnings as a mechanic, he followed his passion for classic trucks, and started Bills Truck Shop in 1990. Nobody could find the beauty in a rusty old Chevy Truck the way that he could, and he built his business into something he was incredibly proud of. His work ethic was unmatched.
He spent his life demonstrably teaching everyone he knew how to be hard working, frugal, patient, kind, to enjoy a good game of cards, and good at finding humor and joy in the smallest parts of every day. He was the most loving man, and we'll be hearing his booming voice and his loud presence forever.
Though his battle was not an easy one, the kindness and support showed to him throughout was a wonderful thing to witness. It allowed him to keep one thing - the pride in being the amazing man he was.
We're thankful to the Sunnybrook ALS Team for all of their support along the way.
Dad, we'll never know why this horrible disease chose you. We will be missing you and seeing you in every sunny day, and every gleam of light that bounces off a Chevy Truck forever.
As Billy wanted, there will be a joyful celebration of his life in the Spring. He can't wait to see everyone there in their best BTS and classic truck shirts.
