Anita “Joan” (Diemer) Johnson, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011. She was born on February 8, 1923 in Fort Wayne to the late Thomas and Ethel (Hendry) Diemer. She graduated from Ossian High School in 1941. Joan worked hard to support her family, including 36 years at GTE and Western Auto. She was proud of her home and enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bingo, cards, and socializing with her friends from the Ossian United Methodist Church where she was an active member.
Surviving family include her children, Cheryl Lauer of Ft. Wayne, Greg (Lisa) Johnson of New Haven; 6 grandchildren, Cynthia, Chad, Michelle, Rebecca, Eric, and Briana; and 5 great grandchildren, Taya Jared, Inara, Lila, and Ava.
A funeral service will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation two hours prior to service with Reverend Doctor Doug Barber officiating.
Burial will take place in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Ossian United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.
