

David Thomas Hobbs, 79, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. David was born on December 10, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the Thomas and Ilene (Welch) Hobbs. He attended Lafayette Central School and graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1965. He later attended Fort Wayne Bible College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Christian Education. On August 18, 1973, David married the love of his life, Kathy Lee. Together they shared 53 years of marriage and faithfully attended Holton Missionary Church, Gospel Temple, Calvary Temple, and Fellowship Missionary Church throughout the years. David dedicated his career to public service. He began as a Juvenile Detention Officer with Allen County before becoming a State Parole Officer, supervising parolees in Northwest Indiana until his retirement. He cared deeply about helping others and worked to make a positive difference in the lives of the young men and women entrusted to his care. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially following Bobby Knight and Indiana basketball. David had a lifelong interest in World War II history and loved sharing what he learned with others. He also enjoyed dining out with his family, always looking forward to a good Italian restaurant especially Casa. Above all, David was devoted to his family. For the past 16 years, he lovingly cared for his wife, Kathy, with unwavering faithfulness and dedication. David was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ilene Hobbs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathy Hobbs; his daughter, Ashley Ann Quandt, and her husband, Carl; his brother, Larry Hobbs, and sister-in-law, Faith Hobbs; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
