

Deane Oren Moore, 88, of Ossian, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital. He was born June 16, 1924 in Liberty Center to the late Kenneth Lawrence and Esther Sophia (Smith) Moore. He retired from Don R. Fruchy Construction in 1986 as a Crane Operator. He was a member of Ossian 1st Presbyterian Church, where he served in many capacities. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shine, worked at the election board, and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards and meeting his friends in the morning at Nel’s Diner. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Gretchen V. (King) Moore of Ossian; children, Pamela A. (Rick) Sampson of Columbia City and Daniel J. (Paula) Moore of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Michelle (Dave) Armstrong, Sam Moore, Paul (Nikky) Moore, Charley Moore, and Katy Moore; and six great grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph K. Moore. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Ossian 1st Presbyterian Church, 123 South Jefferson Street, Ossian, IN with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation will also be on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 2 to 8 P.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, IN 46777. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Preferred Memorials may be made to the church.
