

Mrs. Yager was born April 17, 1922, in Fort Wayne to Forst and Cleona (Hoover) Cotton. Her marriage to Harold E. Yager on December 28, 1941, was at the Prospect Methodist Church. Harold died May 23, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol J. Yager and Janice L. (John) Neuenschwander of Pandora, Ohio; and three sons, Ray F. (Amy) Yager of Festus, MO, Kevin W. (Becky) Yager of Fort Wayne and Cincinnati, OH, and Brent H. Yager of Ossian; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Kimberly) Neuenschwander of Pandora, OH, Marcy Neuenschwander, of Kenton, OH, Carter (Michelle) Yager of Barnhart, MO, Tyler Yager of Indianapolis, IN, Chase Yager of Cape Girardeau, MO; Mariah Yager of Fort Wayne, and Derrek Yager of Champaign, IL; nine great grandchildren, Quincy, Damon, Lucas, Alexandra, Zachary, and Cody Neuenschwander and Nash, Grayson, and Macartnie Yager; and a sister, Betty Inman of Bluffton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Cotton.
Mrs. Yager was a graduate of Ossian High School. She was a homemaker and was supportive of her husband’s railroad schedule and the family farm. She was a member of the Ossian United Methodist Church where she was very active in the mission of the church. She taught Sunday School, served as Lay Leader, sang in the choir, was a leader of the Women’s Society and was an honored recipient of their WSCS award, oversaw the Thanksgiving and other church dinners for many years, and participated on the Church Board and numerous committees. She was also active with the Jefferson Township Home Demonstration Club and the Wells County Chorus. She was very adept at entertaining in her home and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She could put a meal together at a moment’s notice and was known for her real mashed potatoes and gravy as well as her sugar cookies. Counted cross stitch was her favorite hand work. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Ossian United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian. Visitation hours at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church Saturday for one hour prior to services. Preferred memorials are to the Ossian United Methodist Church, Ossian, IN, or to the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora, OH.
