Eugene E. “Gene” McCartney, 90, of Zanesville passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was born on March 1, 1924 in Fort Wayne to the late Albert and Marjorie (Powers) McCartney. He retired from International Harvester after 38 years. He was a member of the UAW. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, square dancing, and camping. Surviving family includes his wife, Lillian Bowman McCartney; son, Kevin (Darlene) McCartney; step-daughter, Linda Mauller; step-son, Michael Bowman; brother, Harold (Jody) McCartney; five step-grandchildren, and seven step- great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his 1st wife, Helen (Hunter) McCartney; siblings, Evelyn and Forrest; and step-son, Richard Bowman. A funeral service will be 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on January 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse.
