

Frances Martina Gruss, 93, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Frances was born January 29, 1932, in Adams County, Indiana, daughter to the late Peter C. and Bertha (Gase) Miller. She worked as a homemaker for most of her life, caring for her family and home. Frances also had worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools in the cafeteria, as well as having worked at the Pentagon, working as a secretary. She was a member of the Daughters of Elizabeth, Sun City Center Emergency Squad, Rosary Sodality, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, traveling, playing Mahjong, cards, and exercising with friends. Surviving are her children, Vickie Kidwell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Karen (Tsanyen) Yang of Holland, Ohio, David Gruss of Bluffton, Indiana, Gregory (Patty) Gruss of Ossian, Indiana, Joseph (Julie) Gruss of Columbia City, Indiana, Barbara (Shayne) Compton of Yuma, Arizona, Steven (Amy) Gruss of Yoder, Indiana, and Tonia (Brian) Mahoney of Bradenton, Florida; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Naureen Ehinger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and sisters in law, Mary Ann Gruss of Coldwater, Michigan and Jackie Miller of Decatur, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gruss; daughter, Theresa Gruss; and siblings, Jim Miller, Rosalia Noonan, Oscar Miller, Sister Bertha Ann Miller, and Andrew Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Road, Yoder, Indiana 46798, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, Indiana 46777, with a rosary service beginning at 7:45 pm.
