James M Shearer

James M. “Jim” Shearer, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at his home. He was born on November 6, 1921 to the late Russel and Anna Belle Shearer. He retired from International Harvestor and was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later became a lifetime member of VFW # 2689-Huntington. He enjoyed spending time at his lake cottages and fishing. Surviving family include his wife of 65 years, Irene (Broughton) Shearer of rural Markle; Son, Rich (Anne) Shearer of rural Bluffton; Sister, Mary Alice Jones of Lakeland, FL; Grandchildren, Eric (Kim) Shearer of Milford, MI; Andrew (Andree) Shearer of Bluffton; grandchildren, Brandon and Graham Shearer of Milford, MI. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Russel Shearer, Jr., Betty Grimes, and Phillip Shearer. A private family graveside service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wells County EMS, Markle or Ossian Volunteer Fire Departments. Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian will be handling the arrangements.
