December 12, 1955January 21, 2021

Jeffrey Tad Hunter, 65, of Ossian, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021. He was born on December 12, 1955 in Fort Wayne. An outdoorsman who cherished being with those he loved, Tad enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching sports. His greatest joy was his family and he was most content spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Gabriel (Sarah) Hunter; daughter, Abigail Hunter; grandchildren, Sawyer and Tony; mother, Beverly Hunter; and sister, Sue Ellen (Larry) Jones. Tad will be missed by many close friends and fishing buddies. Preceding him in passing was his father, Bruce Hunter. Although Ossian, Indiana was home, he loved his years living in Cedaredge, Colorado where he raised his children and made life-long friendships. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in both Indiana and Colorado.

It’s a shame that sometimes it takes a tragedy to strike for us to be reminded how special a person has been in our lives. Tad was one of those special cousins that lit up the room when he entered it. A quick wit, competitive spirit, engaged mind, and a heart that knew when others needed a shoulder. I only wish that I had spent more time with him. Our community and family has lost a great man of the people.

Miss ya Cuz!

Lots of great memories and lots of laughs on AAU basketball trips, off the court, at home, you name it. Tad was a character, but was also a great human being and a great friend who did a lot for the kids in our community. He will definitely be missed.

We were so very saddened to hear of the passing of Tad. We enjoyed knowing Tad when we lived in Colorado. Tad was very instrumental in the development of our son, Jeff. Jeff had played basketball from 4th grade through college and Tad coached him in 5th and 6th grade. He was the best coach our son ever had, as well as a great mentor. I always enjoyed Tad's twist on things and his knowledge of the game of basketball. Our deepest condolences to the Hunter family. A great guy.

Well, our relationship began in the nursery at Ossian Methodist Church. What a run we had growing up: Tenderloins at Eve's Place, Green River's at Beyer's Drug Store, Baseball, Basketball and Cards at the O.T.. Golfing with our dad's at PCCC and the 67 via 3 eagles by yours truly. But the topper, your 45lb. king salmon who jumped into the boat!
Save the tee for us once again in eternity. R.I.P.

It's been many years but I must say you were the best boss I ever had. We did have a fun time working at Personal Finance all those years ago. Still talk about those rubber band fights in the office. Glad to see you made it back to Wells County after all these years! Rest easy Tad...sending prayers, thoughts, and comfort for your family at this time.

My condolences to all of Tad’s family. Tad was a good man and left us all way too soon. His smile and laugh were unique to those that knew him best. He loved his kids dearly and his grandkids were fresh wind in his life sail. We fished together in Alaska and had many fun times on lakes in Arizona. Tad will be missed by everyone, but never forgotten.

So sorry for your loss. I have known Tad since I was 7 he lived around the corner too. We also graduated together. He had alot of hair back then. I would also see him picking up his granddaughter from school and we'd say hi to each other. My thoughts and prayers are you all in your time of sorrow.

When Northern Wells consolidated schools and those of us attending Union were sent to Ossian, Tad was one of the first friends I met the summer before starting middle school. Our group of friends that school year helped contribute to some of my best school memories. Prayers to all the family and friends as I know he will be greatly missed.
