Mildred Maxine Schlichter, 89, of Ossian, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012. She was born on November 14, 1922 in Edinburgh, IN to the late Bryan and Veva (Arbuckle) Heck. She worked as a homemaker, UTRAD, and Guardian Photo. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and was a member of the Eastern Star. Surviving family include her children, James (Shanna) Schlichter of Ossian, Fred Schlichter of Uniondale, Nancy (James) Haley of Fort Wayne, Sue (Doug) Crawford of Fort Wayne, Ted (Cindy) Schlichter of Bluffton, Rex Schlichter of Columbia City; step-sons, Drew (Gail) Schlichter of Elkhart, Keith (Shirley) Schlichter of Leander, TX; and siblings, Carolyn Scheidt, William Heck. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Samuel Schlichter; son, Dan Schlichter; a grandson; and siblings, Thomas, Margarite, Richard and Ralph Heck. A funeral service will be 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
