My first memory of Shirley was when I was about 2 years old. My family lived across the street from the Gillioms in Ossian, Indiana on Norwalt Street. I was friends with Gary (deceased) since that time. Shirley and Max then moved a couple of blocks from us when we lived on Morton Lane in Ossian, and our families were closest of friends during that time. When we moved my parents from Ossian (for health reasons in 2008), I still kept in touch with Max and Shirley, and occasionally visited them when I was in Ossian visiting (from Austin, Texas) whenever I could. My children also remember them both, and when Max passed away, we all kept in touch with Shirley. We were in Ft. Wayne for Gary's Memorial service, and that is the last time I saw her, although I called her occasionally.

Shirley was an awesome parent to Gary and Gayle, and was a fantastic cook. I always introduced her to my friends when we visited annually for the Indy 500, and they all loved her as well.

My family and I will miss her dearly! I think she may be the last of the "old Ossian Gang".

We are so sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. We lived next door for sixteen years and I loved being her neighbor. She was the perfect neighbor and she will be missed. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
