Vergilla M. Roberts, 77, of Ossian, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was born on May 22, 1937 in Martin County, Indiana to the late Cecil and Viola (Simmerman) Owens. She worked as a registered nurse and St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Waynedale Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, Colts football and IU basketball. Surviving family include her children, Robin (David) Barton, Russell (Sheri) Roberts, Timothy (Claranna) Roberts, Kerry (Brad) Clark; seven grandchildren, four, great grandchildren; sister, Rowena Mitchell; and brother, Jerome Owens. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Waylyn D. Roberts and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with calling starting at noon. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
