Violet J. Pugh, 93, of Fort Wayne, a former resident of Ossian, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 05, 2013, at the Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau. She enjoyed reading her Bible and doing sewing and cross stitch pieces for family. She was born Nov. 2, 1919, in Yoder to John Monnot and Ardola Swaim Monnot. She married George Pugh; her husband preceded her in death in 2003. Survivors include her children, Larry (Cindy) Pugh of Ossian and Janece “Jan” (Merrill) Osborn of Sand Springs, Okla.; a son-in-law, John Cochran of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Laura) Monnot of Peru, Ind.; and a brother-in-law, Robert Maidens of Bluffton. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in passing by a daughter, Sandra Cochran; four siblings, Rose Maidens, Wilbur Monnot, Earl Monnot, and Myron Monnot; and a half-brother, Richard Banet.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian, with visitation one hour prior to the service. There will also be visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian. Memorials may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation or to Arthritis Foundation Northeast. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian.
