
Shirley was born on March 23, 1940 in Summit, New York, the daughter of the late Harold and Estella (Gray) Van Valkenburgh. She attended Richmondville Central School. On June 24, 1967, Shirley married Ronald B. Morrell in Davenport and celebrated 45 years together.
She was a very hard working woman who really enjoyed her job at Amphenol, where she worked for over 37 years, retiring earlier this year. When she wasn’t working, Shirley devoted much of her free time to her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Her favorite hobbies included dancing, collecting “cows”, and she loved to go shopping.
Shirley was a member of the Moose Lodge of Sidney and also was a member of the Otego Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ronald B. Morrell of Otego; her daughters, Debbie DeSilva and her companion, Kevin Smith of Oneonta, and Sharon Murwin and her companion, Jerry Lester of Otego; her two grandsons, Jarrett DeSilva of Oneonta, and Randy Murwin of Otego; her two granddaughters, Jenna DeSilva of Oneonta, and Stephanie Murwin of Oneonta, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Russell Van Valkenburgh.
In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral service.
