Bonefacia was born on April 1, 1930, in Richmond, Mo. to Antonio and Felicitas (Luna) Garcia. Her family traveled with the harvests so Bonefacia’s education only went to the 6th grade. While harvesting hopps in Mabton she met Lorenzo R. Lopez. They were married in Warden, WA. The family moved from Moses Lake to Warden to Prosser and then settled in Othello in 1958. Bonefacia worked for Schutte Farms for several seasons as a truck driver, then in the Anderson Potato processing plant, Chef Ready and retiring from what is now Simplot.
Bonefacia had many hobbies; sewing, flower design, knitting, making piñata’s for her family, baking especially birthday cakes, cooking and gardening both vegetables and flowers. Her favorite flower was the gardenia but after several attempts to grow them here she settled on white rose bushes. She enjoyed singing around her home or at church. She was a very strong believer in the Catholic Church and worked with the Catholic ministries prayer group. Her favorite time was spent with her family, especially her grand children. She always put family first. She will be remembered as a spiritual and inspiring person who would help anyone that needed it. She was a humble loving soul who loved her lord and a good laugh.
Bonefacia was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Maria De Jesus Benavidez, sisters Magdalena Garcia and Refugia Camarillo, and her brothers Juan Ramirez, Margarito Ramirez, Gregorio Montoya and Pedro Garcia. She is survived by her husband Lorenzo of Othello, her children Guadalupe Ganvoa of Pasco, Maria Larioz of Moses Lake, Lorenzo Lopez (Helena) of Yakima, Berta Gonzales (Octoviano Salas) of Othello Ricardo Lopez (Sandy) of Kent and Bonnie Garza (Adan JR) of Othello, her sisters Aurora Zavala of Othello and Mary Hopkins of Auburn, WA, her brother Carlos Garcia of Othello, 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
