Esperanza Rodriguez Martinez

Esperanza Rodriguez Martinez, Age 85, of Othello Washington, passed away Saturday, March 8th, 2014, at Kedlec Regional Medical Center, in Richland Washington. She was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on a Wednesday, April 11th, 1928 to parents, Manuel and Teodora Rodriguez. She grew up in Eagle Pass and San Antonio Texas with 3 siblings. Her parents moved the family to Mabton Washington in 1944, where she met and married Emilio T. Martinez. They were married on September 28th, 1953 in Mabton Washington. They moved to Othello in 1968 were they raise 5 children together. Emilo passed away February 20th, 1997. Esperanza started working for Carnation in 1968. She retired as a Floor Supervisor in 1992. She spent her retirement years in Othello reading magazines, books, going to yard sales, and fishing. She loved spending time with her family; her great grandchildren loved their Nana. She will be dearly missed. She was survived by her children; Emilo (Wendy) Martinez Jr. of Indiana, Jaime (Gina) Martinez of Othello Washington, Maria (Earl) Knigge of Othello Washington, Celia (Reynaldo) Gomez of Kennewick Washington, and Teodora “Lolie” Martinez of Othello Washington. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings; Mattis Rodriguez, Consuelo Guajardo, and San Juan Bernal. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren to cherish her loving memory. A Viewing will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 12th 2014, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello Washington. Catholic Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 13th 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello Washington.
