

Jerry was born on May 12, 1960 to Pablo and Alicia (Peña) Garza in San Benito, N.L. Mexico. As a young child he moved with his family to California. His family worked in the harvest so they travelled extensively through the west. The family settled in Dinuba CA in 1966 then to Moses Lake in 1972. In 1978 the family moved to Hardin Texas where he worked as a painter and a farmer. In 1991 they returned to the Columbia Basin and settled in Othello. Jerry worked as a farm foreman. In 1996 he started his own trucking company retiring in 2007. He continued to work for various farmers in the area.
Jerry loved to travel especially to go see family and friends in San Benito, MX. He was an avid gardener, both vegetables and flowers, especially roses. He enjoyed fishing the potholes with his friends. He liked vintage movies (Abbot and Costello, Bob Hope etc.) and 60’s rock and roll. His favorite time was spent with his family and friends, especially when he could try out new recipes on them. Jerry will be remembered as very upbeat and supportive man who loved his family and maintained a positive outlook regardless of circumstances.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jaime. He is survived by his daughters; Marisol and Elissa Ramirez, his brothers Cecilo Garza, Pablo Garza, Adan Garza, Jaime Garza, Romel Medrano, Canuto Garza and Felipe Garza, his sisters; Maria Martinez, Tomasa Amaral, Petra Hernandez, Marta Martinez, Micaela Martinez, Irma Ramirez and Juana Ramirez, numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Jerry will be held at Stevens Funeral Chapel on Wednesday June 4, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A celebration of his life will be held at the Bethel Assembly of God Church on First Ave. in Othello with burial to follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.
