

He was born June 27, 1919 in Shelley Idaho to Oscar and Marion Yorgesen.
He married Verella Fielding in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 30, 1938. At that time he was farming with his Father in Shelley, Id. Later they moved to the Lost River Valley and raised seed potatoes and enjoyed 10 good years of farming. They made many friends and enjoyed the community. He served at the chairman of the School Board in Arco, ID.
In 1952 they moved to the Othello for more farming opportunities. While in Othello he served on the FHA board, County Agriculture Committee and on the Washington potato committee. He was elected to the board of directors of a local farm co-op and served there for 30 years.
Being a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served in many capacities including, Branch President, Bishop, High Councilman, and Stake Patriarch. He and Verella served two 18 month missions in the Caribbean.
After several years of farming with his two sons, he retired and found his new love-gardening and flowers.
He was involved in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was loved and respected by all. He entertained with his "goofer stick" and giant swings.
After the death of Verella, Frans married Irma Hathaway of Mattawa, WA..
Frans is survived by his wife Irma; two sons and their wives, David and Sharon Yorgesen, Jack and Patty Yorgesen of Mattawa, WA; two daughter and their husbands, Lillie and Raymond Gilbert, Ann and Robert Ashton of Othello, WA. Three sisters, Winona Maughan of Idaho Falls Idaho, Cody Anderson of Salt Lake City, UT, and Mary Lou Cox of Warden, WA. He has 28 Grandchildren and 104 Greatgrandchildren and 1 Great-Great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verella, Great Grandsons, Jacksen Ashton and Bobby T. Pruneda; Brother Russell Soren Yorgesen.
Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday August 5, 2011 at the Stevens Funeral chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on August 6,2011 at the 7th avenue LDS church at 10:00 AM.~ Interment will follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.
