Alfred Joseph Marquis

Peacefully, on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the age of 97 years. Beloved husband of the late Louise Marquis (née Dugal). Loving father of Laura Albert (Jules), Greg (the late Ann), Vince (Paule), Anne (Gerry Potter) and Tony (Brenda). Proud grandfather of 19, great-grandfather of 17 and one great great grandchild. Survived by his brothers Len and Bob and predeceased by his sisters Alice Seguin and Loretta Hales and his grandson Alexander Marquis. Alfred was extremely devoted to his family throughout his life and will be fondly remembered for promoting and organizing activities for youth, especially founding children`s sports leagues in center town Ottawa in the 60`s and 70 `s. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Empress Kanata for their devoted and compassionate care. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Sunday April 17, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday April 18, 2011 at 11 am at St Margaret Mary`s Church 7 Fairbairn Ave, Ottawa.
