Though he is at peace, it is with deep sadness that we announce the great loss of Andrew “Andy” Avery, surrounded by his family, on August 22nd, 2024 at the age of 74 years. A true fighter, especially in the last year and a half as he battled Leukemia, he was not afraid and welcomed joining Jesus.
Proud Dad to Amanda (Joe McClelland), Steven (Erica Avery) and Conor, he also leaves behind their mother and dear friend Lynn Avery. Beloved partner to Viviana Toffolo (her mother Lucia Toffolo). Caring grandfather to Kaius, Isla, Eryn, Alora and the late baby River. Loving son of the late Jack and Mary Avery (Sullivan) and brother to Garry (Claudette), Jane, MaryAnne (Miles) and Sue (Mark). He also leaves behind his close friends: Mike Sally and John Ryall, many other close relatives, friends and in particular friends of Bill. He is predeceased by his good friend and mentor Jack Brennan.
Andy was an officer with the Ottawa Police for 35 years before retiring, though it never felt like he retired as he was still on the case until his final day. Throughout the years, he has touched the lives of many with his kindness, empathy and his sense of humor which he kept until the end.
A special thank you to Viviana for helping care for Dad over the last year and a half.
God blessed us with your presence here on earth Dad, until we meet again! God Bless
