

Peacefully, at home in her sleep, on Monday, November 14, 2011 in Ottawa, Canada, after a courageous battle with cancer, Angela was taken to her final resting place with our Lord & Saviour. Predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond Mitchell and their infant son Joseph. Mother of Paul, Kathryn, Jerome & Helen. Grandma to Nigel, Corey, Laura, John & Calvin. Daughter of James Edward O’Neil IV and Mary Brennan. Survived by her large family in England, including uncle Gerard Brennan, siblings Eileen (late Tommy Pratt), Monica (Ronnie Adair), Jimmy (Ann Lowther) Mary (late Gerry Lambe) & Margaret, as well as cherished God-daughter Angie O’Neil and many other nieces and nephews. Born in Liverpool, she grew up in Lancashire during WWII. Former student at St. Bartholomew’s School, long-standing employee of Davis’ Chemist in Rainhill Village and devoted volunteer at Loyola Hall, Rainhill. After immigrating to Saskatoon, Canada in 1959, Angela & Ray made Ottawa their home. Former Chair of the Social Action Committee at Resurrection of our Lord Parish and founding member of the Widowed Support Group of Ottawa. An avid volunteer throughout her life, Angela took on projects with passion, dedication and meticulous attention to detail. She lived a life of faith, charity and compassion, and will be fondly remembered not only for her generosity to strangers, but for her great generosity of spirit. The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the oncology team at The Ottawa Hospital as well as her GP Dr. Daniel Smith. In memoriam donations to The Leprosy Mission of Canada would be appreciated. Visitation on Thursday, November 17 from 2-5 p.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Rd. Funeral Mass on Friday, November 18 at 10 a.m. in Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, 1940 Saunderson Drive. Interment Notre-Dame Cemetery.
