It is with profound sadness that the family must announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He died peacefully in his sleep at the critical care facility in Ottawa. Dad’s health was physically and mentally slipping away after the love of his life (Mom) passed away. At last, he will be reunited with his son Patrick (Robert) Kocis who passed in 1976, his best friend and wife Mary Mildred (Nelson) who passed in 2013.
Born in Slovenia in 1932 and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He loved Canada and all the experiences it had to offer him. He loved the climate and agriculture of the Niagara region and spent many hours outside in the garden. He was well known in the community for his outstanding talent in the game of cribbage being in many tournaments and winning several awards. For many years he was the president of the Lipa Park Slovenian club where he had many friends and many cherished memories.
Left behind his son Tom Kocis. His Grandchildren who he loved very much and mentored, Christopher, Kyle, and Robert (Bobby) Kocis. His great grandchildren Devon, Brody, Quinntinn, Gracie and Grier Kocis. His sister-in-law Bradley Gregorin and her sons Franci and Sandor.
