

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur Roy. He left this world peacefully on January 6, 2025 at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 94. Born in Maniwaki Quebec, Arthur was the son of the late Charles-Auguste Roy and of the late Margaret McCaffrey and was the loving husband of Maria Lovas Roy.
He leaves behind in mourning his nieces Claire Lemieux (Henrick Idstam) and Joan Lemieux (Robert Urichuck) as well as his nephews Charles Lemieux (Kathy Bradley) and Pierre Lemieux (Jacynthe Pilon) along with many grand nieces and grand nephews, all of whom have cherished memories of Uncle Arthur.
He is predeceased by his sister Lorraine Roy Lemieux (the late John E. Lemieux).
Arthur had a long and fulfilling career in the Ottawa School System. He was the last Principal of the Ottawa University High School, he served as Principal of the Cartier Vocational High School as well as Assistant Superintendent at the Ottawa Board of Education. In his retirement, he taught English in China and travelled to over 50 countries around the world with his wife Maria.
Arthur was kind, generous, loved and respected by all. He left his mark on this world and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home (180 Montreal Road, Ottawa, Ontario K1L 1B4) on Saturday January 18, 2025 at 2PM. The family will be receiving condolences as of 1PM.
