Anne graduated from McGill University with three separate certifications, throughout the 1950s: a Bachelor of Arts, a law degree, and finally, a diploma in education. She worked as one of the first fifty woman lawyers in Montreal: a real pioneer.
After welcoming her daughter Diana, Anne worked for several years as an accomplished teacher. She then returned to law, working at several firms before settling at (now known as) Fasken Martineau. She found her niche in commercial real estate law and worked there, for more than 20 years.
She travelled often, visiting islands across the Caribbean, as well as touring Europe. She was also an avid swimmer and sailor. Anne is survived by her daughter, Diana Hughes, son in law, Stephen Hughes and two grandchildren, Adam (Emily) and Shannon (Dean).
Funeral services will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, Ontario, on February 28th 2026. Visitation to start at 1:15pm, followed by a service and a reception.
