After a courageous 2 year battle with Cancer, Christa passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband, José De Rueda, her 2 sons Frank Kannemann (Donna) and Tom Kannemann (Sandi) and her 5 grandchildren (Nickolas and Alexander) and (Sarah, Marcus and Kelly). She will be deeply missed by all of us. Her spirit, zest for life and determination will be amongst our many cherished memories. Many thanks to the staff of St. Vincent 5th floor and the Civic 5B for their care of her. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 7-9 pm. A graveside inurnment service will be held on Monday at 2 pm at Capital Memorial Gardens. In memoriam donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or Bruyere continuing care would be appreciated.
