It is with deepest regrets that the Vaillancourt Family announces the passing of Mrs. Claire Vaillancourt (nee Pilon) born July 26, 1931, passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 89.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Pilon and the late Délima Rancourt. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond Vaillancourt. Our loving mother leaves in sorrow her children Chantal (Kevin), Josette (Jeff), Roxanne (Marcel), Roger, Carmen (Vincent), Sylvie (Roland), Marc (Monique), Yves (Jeanne-Hélène), Luce (Gérard), her many grand-children and great-grand-children whom she loved with all her heart.
Claire worked tirelessly and selflessly to ensure the needs of her family were met. She gave birth to nine children, but also made room under the family roof to support cousins from far and away who came to build a life in our nation’s capital. She had a career with the Federal Public Service where her work connected her to Canadians across the country; this brought her joy. She knew her Canadian geography like no other. Claire enjoyed many wonderful years at the cottage on lac Cassel, with Raymond and the family. She thoroughly enjoyed, and was very good at, fishing and playing golf.
Our most sincere thanks go to the palliative care team at Montfort Hospital for their attention and compassion. Dr Murray, Anne Roberts (Head nurse, Palliative Care), the nurses and PSW staff were supportive and kind.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 2020 at 11 am at St-Remi church (2821 Dumaurier Avenue, Ottawa, ON K2B 7W3). Family will be in attendance in the church vestibule beginning at 10 am.
In memory of Claire Vaillancourt, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
Tributes may be sent to www.racinerobertgauthier.com or 613-241-3680.
Because of CoVid restrictions, attendance at the church is limited to 55 people. Please contact Chantal Vaillancourt at [email protected] should you wish to attend. Thank you.
