Cyril was a brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He could be a crusty old thing but he was kind and extremely loyal to those he loved. He enjoyed good food (back in the day, a decent Vindaloo had him sweating), a strong cup of espresso and good music. And of course, he loved his Blue Jays, even in the years when they didn’t do so well.
He spent the majority of his professional life creating the best service he could for the people he worked with - colleagues, customers and clients. He started out in sales at the Eaton’s Department store and continued his career into computers and IT. He also worked with the Ottawa Region school board. He was diligent and proud of his work.
He is survived by brothers Brian, Terry and David and sisters Wanda, Shelley and Patricia. At Cyril’s request, his remains will be returned to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, with a private family gathering at a later date. Should you wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in his name.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital, particularly the nursing staff who were amazing, and Dr Toguri & Dr Bush for helping to keep Cyril comfortable in his final days. We very much appreciate their honest and caring bedside manner. We know they will support many more families like ours through similar difficult times.
