It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Danny. He passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital with his family by his bedside on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at the age of 57.

Beloved son of Lorraine (nee Purdy) and the late Weldon Lynch.

Beloved husband of JoAnn (nee Lorbetskie) for 29 years. Extremely proud father of Madison (Theodore Tannis Jr.), Courtney, and Shayne.

Danny will be fondly remembered by his younger sister Colleen (Glenn Pearson). He was predeceased by his two older brothers, Stephen and Greg (late Kathy Rochon).

He will be deeply missed by his wife’s family. Cherished son-in-law of Theresa and the late Louis Lorbetskie. Brother-in-law to Darlene (Nick Mitrakos), Marie (David Cowan), and Michael (Sheila nee Bradley). Predeceased by his brother-in-law Paul Lorbetskie.

Danny was an adored Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend to those he met in his childhood and throughout his lifetime.

He always welcomed others with a cheerful greeting (“Not bad, you?”), which was usually followed by a joke or two. Danny was a compassionate, considerate, kind, gentle, respected, and humble man, who touched many people’s lives. He was always prideful and honoured his Irish ancestry (and made sure that others knew of this when St. Patrick’s Day came around).

Danny had a profound love for his wife and children, family, and friends. He enjoyed his man-to-man telephone chats, listening to classic rock music, singing along to Elvis Presley tunes, golfing at the Hylands (when he was off the clock), watching his favorite sports teams play on TV (the Montreal Canadians, Team Canada, the B.C. Lions, and the Atlanta Falcons), sneaking late night treats to DJ (his daughters yellow labrador), travelling to Barry’s Bay, visiting his Mom, hanging out at the Strathcona Legion with his buddies, and most of all… looking good.

We will miss his presence immensely. We find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his father, brothers, brother-in-law, and many close friends who have passed before him.

As he would often say, “I best be on me way”.

A memorial will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel (1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, ON, K1V 1A6). Visitation from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and Funeral Service at 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Interment at St. Hedwig’s Cemetery Annex in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, in Spring 2020.

For those who wish to make an in memoriam donation, please consider the Royal Canadian Legion, as Danny was most supportive of this organization.

My heart, hugs, prayers and thoughts go out to Joanne and her children. Two special songs go out to Danny... I wear my sunglasses at night and My futures so bright, I gotta wear shades. That is the man I knew, always with a smile, joke, friendly manner and of course his sunglasses no matter the time of day. Unfortunately this is when you learn how many lives he has touched, take this and make memories for a lifetime. On behalf of my mom Maxine my brother Darryl and myself, we will miss him at future extended family functions.

Joanne & family: please know that my thoughts, prayers & memories are with you. Danny was a unique and special person who always took care of all of his friends. Eddy is waiting for his best buddy ever to join him and all of his other friends & family. May he rest in peace, and peace be with you and your family. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Danny's service.

My sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Danny for about 10 years at Hylands. A great guy to be around. Proud to call him my friend. Always had a story to share. A good ball and hockey player as well.

Such a shock to learn of Danny's passing. It was only a couple of days before Christmas we were sitting around the table at the Legion having a beer and a laugh. My sincerest condolences to his family. Danny was a great guy. He will be missed.
