It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Daya on Friday,
April 3, 2020 at the age of 95.
She had an active and fulfilling life. She was a wonderful mother
and compassionate friend to many. She was also very active in the Sri Lanka Canada
Association of Ottawa, and the Ottawa Buddhist Society, of which she was a founding
member.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Ted in 2000, she is survived by her children Sriyani
(William), Jayantha (Claire), and Renuka (David), and grandchildren Colin and Jacob. Dear aunt
to Tilak, Darsh, Ru and their families in Ottawa, and many nieces and nephews in Sri Lanka.
She is the last of five siblings to pass away, most of whom lived in Sri Lanka.
Many thanks go to the staff at Longfields Manor for their loving care of our mom, particularly
the wonderful people who work in Beatrice Terrace.
Due to the social distancing restrictions imposed because of the COVID-19 virus, the funeral
service will be for family members only, but will be streamed live on https://funeraweb.tv/en/ for those
wishing to view it.
It will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County would be greatly
appreciated.
