With hearts heavy with both sorrow at their loss, and gratitude for having had such a gracious lady in their lives, the family of Dorothy (Tootie) Belliveau announces her passing from this world on October 13, 2023.
Dorothy met her husband Edward in Yarmouth, N.S. where she lived until marrying. With Edward being in the Army, she went from small town living to travelling around Canada and Europe. When Edward passed, Dorothy made the choice to continue living life to the fullest. As she often said to people, “Imagine all of the adventures I would have missed if I had said no!” At 96, Dorothy had lived through many world events and changes. She was delighted to have her cell phone and to be on Facebook, where she could stay in touch with family and friends. And for Dorothy, staying in touch with people she loved was so important.
Dorothy clearly lives on in the many people she loved, especially in the hearts of her daughter Jo-Anne and her son-in-law Michael McAuliffe (whom she called her ‘son’), and in her treasured great-grandson, Aziz.
Please celebrate her life and raise a glass of cheer to the happy times you shared with her. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or your favourite charity are requested in lieu of flowers.
