Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Joan MacDonald (née Smith), Edward was the cherished and youngest son of the late William Bernard and Mary MacDonald (née McCarron). Born and raised in Lourdes, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Edward always held his roots close to his heart.
Loving father to Ross and John (Julie), and proud grandfather to Matthew, Kelly, and Megan. Predeceased by his brothers Sander, Ian, Leo, and Donnie, as well as his sisters Mary, Kathleen, Eunice, and Rita, Edward was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Edward dedicated over 30 years to Canadian Pacific Railway, working as a manager in Montreal until his retirement in 1990.
Having lived most of his adult life in Montreal since 1956 and later years in Ottawa, Edward never stopped considering Nova Scotia his true home. At a later date, he will return to rest in Lourdes, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, reunited with his beloved wife and family.
