With heavy hearts we sadly announce the sudden passing of Gabrielle "Gaby" Poirier-Davidson (née Carrière) on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the age of 77, in Ottawa. Gaby was a simple, respectful, kind and considerate woman throughout her journey on Earth.
Cherished soul mate and wife of 37 years to late husband Gordon Davidson (departed September 25, 2021), loving relationship with her late Mother Lilianne Carrière (née Touchette), dear supportive mother of Daniel Poirier, and courteous support from her first husband Michel Poirier. She will be greatly missed by her step-sister Joan Davidson, her step-daughter Catherine Davidson Grant (Ray), her step-son John Davidson (Julie), and her long time Montréal friends of 47 years Jerry and Annie.
Gaby and Gord moved to the Perley Health Centre in January 2021. She received loving and physical support from the PSWs (Personal Support Worker) with whom she formed a genuine amicable bond during her short 1-year stay. She was able to start building her new life since the passing of Gord. One example, she liked to do puzzles in the library room in company of residents. After her passing, the residents completed a beautiful puzzle in recognition toward her. We kindly thank the Perley staff and residents.
Gaby endured physical mobility challenges since her devastating car accident in 1975, leaving her with a broken/fragmented spine, and in hospital and rehabilitation for 2 years. Through courage and determination {positive stubbornness ;)} facing adversity, she was able to drive and walk again with crutches, canes, and walkers in successive years. She was wheelchair bound during last 8 years. She was a true inspiring warrior battling chronic dorsal and body pain in past years.
A graveside service will be held in the month of April 2022 at the Notre Dame Cemetery. Precise date to be decided.
Please rest in peace my dearest Mommy...
We all Love you!
