

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth, his children Edward, Abraham, and Rebecca, by his daughters-in-law Stephanie and Dinah and his son-in-law James, by his grandchildren Miles, Leon, Precia, Phoenix, Gryphon, Drake, and Qirin, by his brothers Roy, Geoff, and Robert, his sisters-in-law Richmal, Susan, Diane, and Angela, and by his nieces and nephews Sarah, Harriet, Alice, Loretta, Nadine, Samuel, and Christopher. He is predeceased by his brother Richard.
Garry was born in Stourport, UK, on 14 July 1939, to Frederick and Frances. He was a craftsman and trained as a mechanic, eventually working at his father's auto business in Bromsgrove.
In 1967, Garry married Ruth Crompton, and moved to Manchester to support her in her career as a physician. In 1974, Garry, Ruth, Edward, and Abraham emigrated to Canada. They first lived in Lynn Lake, then established a medical practice in Gladstone, Manitoba. Ruth and Garry also organized Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts in Gladstone for several years. Garry renovated the home that housed the medical clinic and also wrote the code for software that automated the practice's billing.
Ruth and Garry moved to Ottawa with Rebecca in 1985, where Garry worked as a security guard and as a caretaker. He enjoyed following Formula 1 racing. He spent many hours researching and documenting the family ancestry. He was a loving father and husband.
A gathering will be held in Garry's remembrance at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, ON on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm. Words of remembrance and memories will be shared at 4pm. Light refreshments will be available.
