Gerald (Gerry) Arthur Henry Goudie

Peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 3 with his loving wife of 58 years Margaret (nee Shea) and cat by his side. Amazing father to Mark (Lisa), Scott (Chantal) and Erin (Patrick). Adoring grandfather to Meghan (Macallum), Jackson, Amanda, Laura, Daniel, Mathieu (Krista) and Patrick. Son to Irene, baby brother to Connie (Howard) and pre-deceased by brothers Weldon (Phyllis), Kingsley (Mildred) and sister June (Bill). Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Gerry spent his entire career at the CBC where he started in the mailroom and retired from a senior finance position. During retirement he enjoyed curling (where he was a member of the Navy Curling Club), golfing and playing bridge with the gang. Gerry was truly his happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends. If his kids were playing in a game or dancing in a recital then you knew Gerry would be there. Gerry will be remembered for being quick with a quip and always there to help when needed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Derek Jonker and the staff at the oncology department of The Ottawa Hospital and his personal physician Dr. Brenda Pearce. A special thank you to the caring staff at Hazeldean Gardens.

Gerry grew up in Lowertown Ottawa relying on the services of the Boys and Girls Club. His wishes were that any donations in his memory be made to bgcottawa.org.

A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at a later date.
