Grace Marion Bird

She lived a full life raising a family of four boys. After her sons were in school she returned to the workforce becoming a manager at Canada Post. She will always be remembered as an independent strong woman and role model to those who knew her. She was the glue that held our family together.

Predeceased by her husband Bob (Robert) Bird, eldest son Robbie (Robert) Bird, baby Cathy Jean Bird, sisters Irene Deacon, Alice Snider, Clare Grant and brother Ted Rich. Her pride and legacy will always be her family which will continue through her sons Ron (Beverley), Barry (Jenn) and Brian (Delayne). Her eight grandchildren Bobby, Darren, Valerie, Kevin, Brandon, Colin, Kyle, Justine and two great-grandchildren Eleanor and Jasper. Also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Grace’s family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at the Chartwell Bridlewood Residence where she was lovingly cared for. A special thank you to nurse Freda at the Ottawa General Hospital 5 N/E for her care and compassion in the final days.

In saying goodbye she wanted everyone to remember the good years and live their life in happiness. This is not the end but the beginning.

In keeping with her wishes a private celebration of life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
