Passed away peacefully on February 29, 2016 at May Court Hospice in Ottawa. Beloved wife of Walter for 64 years. Loving mother of Donna MacMillan (Don), Norine (Gary Babaluk), David, Larry (Karen) and predeceased by Lorri. Treasured grandmother to Scott MacMillan. Sister to Stella Hogan (Thunder Bay) and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Helen is predeceased by her parents Dmytro and Eva Buckno, sister Catherine Kempton and brothers John and Tony Buckno. Helen was born on December 31, 1931 in Fort William (Thunder Bay) Ontario, where she met and married Walter, started a family and later moved to Ottawa in 1958. Thanks to the staff and many volunteers at May Court Hospice, the Ottawa and St. Vincent Hospitals for their kind and compassionate care. Friends and family may pay their respects at a Celebration of Life to be held on the 16th of April between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to May Court Hospice (Ottawa), the Cancer Research Society or the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
