Sincere condolences and thoughts from me too. I met "Aunt Henni" only once, many years ago when she last visited Salzburg.
The memory of her I got in my head is "she standing in front of the horsepond and waiting for her bus to come". I was a very little child back then, hence I always remembered her as a tremendous person. In physical size but as well as in her heart.

From the letters she wrote to us, I always enjoyed her fine sense of humor, her kind and caring words and I admired her writing skills.
The attached photo I took in Rüstorf last week, it's the local church where the family grave is right beside it. 

I want to thank Henni for her good attitude and her caring character, I want to thank her family , the people in the retirement residence and hospitals who took care of her and in gerneral I want to thank all those "who care".

My deepest condolences to the Lawnikanis brothers, Peter, Paul and Stephen. While I never met Grandma in person, I enjoyed corresponding with her in letters and phone conversations. I could tell from our interactions that she was a warm, kind, loving soul with a thoroughly grounded outlook on life. Her practicality and stoicism is something that I can see has permeated into my fathers way of living and teaching, and is something that has been passed onto all of the Lawnikanis children. I'm grateful for the heritage that has been passed onto us by her and I'm honoured to be able to pass that onto my own children. Rest In Peace Grandma. Lots of love from us all. 

I have wonderful memories of my dear mother-in-law. Her strength of character, sense of humour, amazing memory and needlework skills always had me in awe. Henriette also loved to bake but delighted in sharing her creations even more. Who could forget her made-from-scratch strudels! She was a generous and pragmatic woman who had a positive outlook on life despite any adversities she endured. Her faith and prayer life helped to sustain her and we appreciated all the prayers she offered to God for our family here in Australia. Rest in peace mum. We will miss you, but we're grateful we had you in our lives for so long. With love. Jan



I still remember visiting you in your apartment in 1988 Grandma .
I remember the way you were kind and patient with me.
I remember watching you cooking in your kitchen , enjoying the warmth of your hospitality,  and looking at all your keepsakes around your unit.
Thank you for all the birthday cards and words of encouragement.
They meant a lot to me.

Grandma's spirit lives on not only in my heart and memories but also via her many letters, handcrafts and treasured mementos.  From her I inherited a love of flowers, baking and especially reading. Grandma cultivated these traits with enthusiastic encouragement, even lending me all of her Agatha Christie novels to read at age 9!  I loved watching her make pastry for apple strudel and can still taste her pound cake if I concentrate.  She had a wicked sense of humour, an amazing memory and an independent way.  Grandma is an inspiration due to her tenacity and strength in adversity.  She did not allow the obstacles she faced make her bitter or self-pitying.  Grandma was a remarkable woman in character and years, deserving to be at peace now.  With much love, Angela

I count myself very fortunate to have had Henriette as my mother. Her strength of character, fortitude, positive nature, often in very trying times are an example to aspire to.
In raising my own children, I have used my mother (and father) as an example of a heritage pool that is not to be taken lightly. It is truly wonderful to see it come through in various ways with our 6 children and 9 grandchildren.
We saw mom last in 2019 when she was frail but still reasonably independent in her own home. Thankfully we were able to phone regularly up until a few days before her passing.
Almost invariably she would sign off our conversations with the statement that she was praying for us and our family. Thanks mom!
We would like to thank Peter for all his faithful years of support and companionship  for our mother. We are very grateful that both Peter and Paul were both there for the month before her peaceful departure.

My sincere condolences to Peter and his brothers. I never met their mother but knew from Peter about his mother’s strength of character as evidenced by her remarkable long life with most of her faculties till her passing.
