It is with great sadness that we announce that Ian Charette, aged 25 years, has peacefully passed away on September 24, 2014, surrounded by family in Sudbury, after a brave fight against a severe brain injury he suffered five months ago. Ian worked as a machinist, and had a deep passion to excel in his career. He was a talented drummer and guitarist. His deep love of hunting and the outdoors was always expressed through his enthusiastic personality. Ian was a shining light in any room he entered, always putting a smile on any person’s face with his goofy sense of humour and magnetic smile. Ian's positive outlook on life influenced all who knew him. His presence will be felt in our hearts forever more, until we meet again. Ian was the loving and supportive husband of Marléna Gohm, beloved son of proud parents Jim (Anne) Charette, and Diane Quirouette (Allen Lacharity), dear brother to Colin (Margaret) and Darcy and step-brother to R.J. and Allison Mills, and Crystal (Marcus) Mastromatteo and Allen Forrest. He also leaves his two nieces, Eva and Aria Charette,
his grandparents Ted and Margaret “Peggy” Charette, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Ian was the beloved son-in- law to Dan (Julie) Gohm, and dear brother-in- law of Brandon Gohm. Ian will be deeply missed by Marléna's entire extended family, including Peter (Donna) Gohm, Grant
(Barbara) Gohm, Jim (Marilyn) Ismond, Sherry Ismond, Jeff (Michelle) Steven, along with many cousins and family friends. Marléna and the Charette and Gohm families wish to thank the staff and volunteers at the Maison Vale Hospice in Sudbury for their exemplary care and compassion during this very sad time. They also wish to acknowledge and thank the staff at ICU and 4 South at the Health Sciences North in Sudbury for their excellent care of Ian. Family and friends are invited for visitation at Racine, Robert & Gauthier 180 Montreal Rd., Ottawa on Friday, October 3rd, 2014 from 11 to 1 p.m. A Service and Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison Vale Hospice, 1028 South Bay Road, Sudbury, ON P3E 6J7, would be greatly appreciated.
