He is survived by his children, Jean-Paul (Nicole Granger), Jeannette (Michel Verdon) and Louise (Andre Seguin); grandchildren Tania, Josée (Jonathan Raymond), Natalie (James Chu), Melanie (Michael Dean) and Stephanie (Steve Friedman); great-grandchildren Félix, Vimy, Jack, Cédric, Lindy, Gabriel, Luke, and Ève and his sisters, Rita and Suzanne. Predeceased by his wife Rita, his granddaughter Lora, his grandson-in-law Basim Muzib, his parents Laura and Jean Baptiste, his sisters Gabrielle, Gilberte, Murielle, Jeannette, and his brothers Roger, Fernand and Raymond.
A quiet and gentle soul, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures — from playing euchre with family and friends to casting lines on quiet days at the cottage, always hoping for a big catch. A true bargain hunter, he delighted in finding treasures at garage sales and flea markets, and he had a special fondness for the sweetness of fresh fruits. He was a skilled craftsman with cement, leaving behind creations as solid and enduring as his memory. His love of warmth matched his warm heart, and over his long life, he extended that love to countless animals that he cared for, providing them with a home filled with compassion. Above all, he cherished the stories told by his beloved wife, Rita, whose gift for storytelling brought him endless delight. Though she predeceased him, her words and their shared love continued to fill his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew his steady kindness and gentle spirit.
We would like to thank the staff at the Montfort Hospital who cared for Jack in his final days.
As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private gathering for immediate family members will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. If desired, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
