Jim was born in Montreal West, Quebec. After his graduation from McGill in Electrical Engineering in 1953, Jim worked for the St Lawrence Seaway in Montreal and Cornwall, followed by a lengthy career in the Federal Government.
Jim loved to laugh, had a twinkle in his eye, a great sense of humor and a never-ending curiosity. His kindness, honesty and work ethic were exemplary. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and an enthusiastic athlete with a passion for skiing, tennis and baseball. He enjoyed summers in Ocean Park Maine, travel and discussing history and current events. Above all, Jim was a family man devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by June (née Stevenson), his loving wife of 61 years, his daughters Nancy (Rick Hellard) and Marian (Bob Plamondon). He was a proud grandpa to Megan and Michael and step-grandfather to Nathaniel and Charlotte; brother-in-law to Gwen (Don) Harterre and Garry (Elaine) Stevenson.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Norman and Bertha Coke, his sister Muriel (Fred Phendler) and his brother Gerald (Beverly).
The family would like to thank his medical team including; Dr. Lisa Moore, Dr. Moira Rushton, Laura Hamilton RN and Dr. Eddy Malouf for their great care and his minister, Paul Dillman, for his support.
A service and burial will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to McEvoy and Shields (613-737-7900), 1141 Hunt Club Rd, Ottawa.
