C’est avec tristesse et amour que nous annonçons le décès de James Edward Hyndman, le 18 septembre 2020, à l’âge de 95 ans à Ottawa. James laisse dans le deuil son épouse Michelle ( née Asselin ), ses fils James ( Caroline Paré ), Marc ( Naïby Jacques ), Patrick ( Rebecca Pierre-Louis), ainsi que ses petits enfants Karine, Samuel et Sena. Né en France, réfugié au Canada après l’exode de 1940, James a connu une carrière stimulante de diplomate au Ministère des Affaires Étrangères. En poste à Vienne, Paris, Bonn, Moscou, puis ambassadeur à Cuba, il s’est aussi consacré à l’enseignement, devenant professeur —puis directeur — au département de sciences politiques de l’université d’Ottawa au cours des années ’60 et ’70. With sadness and love we share the loss of James Edward Hyndman who passed away September 18 2020 at the age of 95 in Ottawa. He will be missed by his wife Michelle ( born Asselin ), his sons James ( Caroline Paré ), Marc ( Naïby Jacques ) and Patrick ( Rebecca Pierre-Louis ), as well as by his grand children Karine, Samuel and Sena. Born in France, James settled in Montreal following the exodus of 1940 and enjoyed a stimulating carrer as a Canadian diplomat. Posted in Vienna, Paris, Bonn, Moscow and Cuba, becoming Canada’s ambassador, he also was professor of political sciences at the University of Ottawa in the late sixties and early seventies.
