Janet Ruth Morris

Born in Guelph, Ontario, she was the cherished daughter of Elmer "Dick" and Dorothy "Jean" Lasby (both predeceased), and sister to Patricia, Laura, and Brian (her brother Robert predeceased in infancy).

Janet shared 47 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Paul. She was a devoted mother to Rachel and Sara, and a proud and loving grandmother, affectionately known as "Gran Jan," to Chase, Ezra, Wyatt, and Asher.

An Early Childhood Educator in her younger years, Janet had a natural gift for nurturing others. She expressed her creativity through poetry, knitting and cross-stitch, playing the autoharp and tongue drum, and filling her home with music. She also loved nature and photography, capturing the beauty of the outdoors through her lens.

She treasured time with friends at the Greenboro Community Centre and, more recently, found connection and support at the Maplesoft-Jones Centre through the Ottawa Cancer Foundation. Guided by compassion and empathy, Janet brought warmth and optimism to everyone she met.

A visitation will take place at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home on Friday March 20th, 2026 from 11:00 am until the Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 12:00 pm. A reception to follow.

We will miss her sparkling spirit and joy, and we will honor her every day by carrying her light forward.
