It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jean-Guy Laurin on Thursday June 4th 2020, after a quick decline in his health, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. He passed peacefully with his daughter Diane by his side.
Jean-Guy is known to his friends and family to be hard working, determined, generous, and kind, with his own unique way of making everyone laugh. Not to mention his love for music. He recently celebrated his 86th birthday.
Son of the late Osias Laurin and the late Eliane Proulx. Beloved husband of Jeanne Laurin (nee Dorval). Pround father of Richard (Debbie) and Diane. Adored grand-father to Natasha, Kianna, Kaitlynn, Mitchel and Jason. Cherished by his brothers André (Hélène), Claude (Denise), and his sisters Lucille, Lise (late Raoul) and Michelle (Henry). He will also be missed by his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Marcel (late Mildred) and Gille (Ida) and his sister Claudette.
The family would like to thank the staff at the City View Retirement Home where he lived for the past 19 months. He was content, safe and cared for. We could find him sitting in the lobby, in his favourite chair, from morning to night, with a smile on his face, listening to music and socializing.
A memorial service will be held in the privacy of the immediate family at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montreal Road, Ottawa, on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 2 p.m.
In memory of Jean-Guy, donations can be made to Carefor.ca and/or Bayshorefoundation.ca who provided him with excellent clinic and homecare for many years.
A well deserved rest… after living his life to the fullest.
