Jeannette Dorine Desormeaux (née Patry)

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother Jeannette on November 3, 2021. Her husband Oscar came on this very same day of his passing one year ago to take her by his side and join their son Raymond. They are resting in their new home finally in peace together.

Jeannette passed away at the Bruyère with her daughters Alice, Helene, son Jean-Guy and sister Louise by her side after her courageous battle with cancer at the age of 85.

Jeannette was born on January 31, 1936 in Ottawa and raised on Lebreton Street where she grew up with many of her siblings and subsequently raised her own family of seven children in these same homes.

Jeannette met her husband Oscar through her best friend Jacqueline who remained her friend and later became her sister in law. While raising her own family she also took care of many nieces, nephews and many children through the Andrew Fleck Daycare centre. Later in years several of her grandchildren would come under her care and she became a second mom to many of them.

Jeannette was the daughter of the late Edmond and Alice (Carriere) Patry, sister of the late Marie, Claire, Lucille and surviving siblings Ronald, Gabrielle, Helene, Gerald, Louise, Jean, Therese and Alfred.

She is the mother of Alice (Grant Burley), Raymond deceased April 22, 2020, Helene (Jean Carriere), Jean-Guy (Doris MacAllister), Louise, Jacqueline, Jeannine (Mario Ouellette). She has 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grand daughter.

Mom, your family is at peace knowing you are no longer suffering and are now reunited with our beloved father and brother.

The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at the Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital.

At her request there will be no service or visitation.
