Jules Bernard

Our beloved Jules passed away on March 24, 2026. Loving husband of Rita Henry for over sixty years, cherished father to Nora, devoted grandfather to Gabriel and dear father-in-law to Shawn. Predeceased by parents Lucien Bernard and Yvonne Desjardins Bernard siblings Roland, Pauline and Jack.

Jules will be greatly missed by his sisters Helen York and Suzanne (Louie). His family was always at the center of his world. He took immense joy spending time with his grandson, Gabriel, whom he adored. He loved playing the guitar, singing with Nora, fishing and golfing with his best buddies, and demonstrating his fancy dance moves with Rita. Jules worked in advertising at the Ottawa Citizen for over thirty years.

Jules found peace and joy at his cottage in Venosta, a place he considered his happy retreat. He will be remembered for his warm heart, his devotion to those closest to him, and his love of life. May music follow you, Jules.

Visitation will take place on Monday, March 30 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home & Chapel at 1411 Hunt Club Rd. at 1:00 p.m., followed by service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. and reception following.
