

Peacefully, on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the age of 72, passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital (OCH) where she graduated from nursing 50 years ago in June (1965) after a quiet battle with cancer. Lee was the proud mother of Natasha Hudson (Luke Hughes) and grandmother of Zosia and Elyse Hughes. Much loved sister of Val Vaby and Mary Cameron (Roy), aunt to Jodie Ely (Jason) and Lindsay Vaby (Jeff Thornborrow), and great-aunt to Keeleigh, Makayla, Aiden, Teagan and Annabelle. Lee was a fighter who lived life on her terms. She was known to long for her ex-husband, David Hudson (2008). Lee will be fondly remembered by the many people she touched in her eclectic and active life. Born in Poland in the midst of WWII, Lee came to Canada at the age of six and achieved much as a nurse, small business owner, alumna of OCH, member of Capital Toastmasters and the Provincial Council of Women Ontario, and volunteer with many other organizations. The family welcomes you to join them at the visitation from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday, July 21 at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, and for the funeral service on Wednesday, July 22 at 11am in the chapel. Interment at Carlsbad Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made to www.canadianwomen.org.
