After a valiant and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer, in her 46th year at home with her husband and best friend, Yvan by her side. We lost a wonderful Mother and Hero to Candyce and Carley. Beloved daughter of Allan and Cathy Smith and loving sister to Jason, and Melissa. Mel will be fondly remembered by her grandmother and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Predeceased by grandparents, Roy and Bertha McCanna. A very special thank you to Dr. Splinter of Palliative Care and the nurses of Care for Nursing for all their wonderful care given to Melanie. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Tuesday, April 26 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service to be held at Bethel Pentecostal Church, 500 Viewmount Drive on Wednesday, April 27 at 1pm. In memoriam donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Society would be appreciated.
